I like to work in close partnership with clients in a pragmatic way that is sociable and commercial, not distant, robotic and cold. I’m straight talking and focussed on the outcome but always act with realism and humour.


The type of projects that I have worked on have been oriented around a change agenda – whether that has been a result of business sale, acquisition or a desire to transform and grow. I have created, reviewed and refreshed people strategies, structures, frameworks, processes and systems. Coupled with developing adaptable, capable and engaged employees, I have helped businesses achieve their goals.


People need to be clear about why they are doing what they are doing. That’s why I established Brazenose Partners; to help effect necessary and positive change and to unlock performance and potential from people.

CASE STUDY - INTERNATIONAL MEDIA

Company transition from US Corporate to Private Equity ownership

 

BACKGROUND

European operating division carved out of multi $Bn US media company. New Private Equity shareholder purchased the business and launched a very fast-paced and challenging 12-month turnaround, transformation and growth strategy. 

 

PROJECT

  • Deal with the people aspects of the transition
  • Establish job roles and the employees to be retained
  • Re-deploy/hire to deliver a direct improvement in employee capability and effectiveness
  • Identify and execute business and functional efficiencies
  • Reduce time, cost and waste by changing processes & procedures

 

RESULTS

  • Streamlined organisational structure, changed HR processes and rationalised job roles all of which contributed to markedly improved business performance and year 1 EBITDA
  • Hired, developed and coached new talent that improved individual and team contribution

CASE STUDY - GLOBAL EVENTS

Business acquisition

BACKGROUND

HR people, processes and systems due diligence and transition/implementation planning for a £300m/250 FTE strategic acquisition.

PROJECT

  • To evaluate all employee data, HR systems, policies and processes, contracts, suppliers, reward and benefits, organisational structures and executive terms for the acquisition.
  • Highlight and mitigate risk through TSA and planning
  • Create a transition and implementation schedule to address synergies, harmonisation and assimilation of the new business.

RESULTS

  • Supported successful acquisition to timetable with minimal people risk
  • Created a clear plan with appropriate TSAs in place to deal with payroll and benefits provision
  • Timebound implementation plan in place for core team to deal with process and policy amendments
  • Forward plan for the business to review and amend relevant elements in its people strategy.

People strategy to drive business transformation

BACKGROUND

Transform a geographically disparate, culturally diverse global organisation with revenue challenges into a centre-led organisation with group strategies to align people, processes and resources around a ‘one team’ ethos.

PROJECT

  • Create people strategy & HR frameworks, linked to the business strategy
  • Build common standards of capability, performance, behaviours and culture globally across the organisation.

RESULTS

  • New group-wide approaches in place for reward, performance, recruitment, L&D and talent
  • Reduced ongoing cost of recruitment, under-performance was addressed, and development interventions appropriately directed
  • New hires are revitalising the business and delivering improved processes, systems and revenue performance.
